HANGZHOU, September 4 (Xinhua) -- Typhoon Nabi, the No. 14 tropical storm this year, would bring strong winds and rainstorms to coastal areas of east China's Zhejiang Province starting Monday, local provincial meteorological station said on Sunday.

Typhoon Nabi was moving northwest with a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, packing force 12 gusts, according to the station.

Nabi located at 24.1 degrees north longitude and 132.5 degrees east latitude in the seawaters 1,220 kilometers southeast of Dinghai of Zhejiang Province at around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Influenced by powerful Nabi, force 9 to 12 gusts are forecast in seawaters off Zhejiang and in the coastal areas of northern and central parts of Zhejiang from Monday to Wednesday.

Zhejiang provincial headquarters for disaster control has called on local departments concerned to make full preparations to cut damages caused by Nabi to the minimum.

Nabi came at the heel of typhoon Talim, which claimed 14 lives in Wenzhou City in the province as of Friday night.

Other nine people were reported missing in a series of thunderstorms, landsides and cave-ins caused by Talim, according to the local Headquarters of Flood Control and Drought Relief.

Talim pounded Putian in Fujian Province, Zhejiang's close neighbor, at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, packing gusts at a maximum speed of 126 kilometers per hour.

According to preliminary statistics, a total of 2.22 million people in 335 townships of 18 counties have been affected in cities of Wenzhou and Lishui, both located in southern part of Zhejiang. Meanwhile, 11,789 houses were pulled down.

The direct economic loss was put at 3.42 billion yuan (421.7 million US dollars), local government said.
