Chinese leaders including PresidentHu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao have urged local governments and departments to rescue the victims of a major landslide in southwest China's Guizhou Province, sources with the central government said Saturday.

The incident occurred in a mountain village in Nayong County at 3:40 a.m. Friday. Twenty-five villagers have been confirmed killedby the sliding rocks, and 19 others are missing.

Local authorities and relevant central government departments are sparing no efforts in the rescue.

The cause of the geological disaster is being investigated, unidentified officials said.
