An anti-corruption watchdog group mounted a legal challenge on Wednesday against a decision to drop a long-running bribery case against Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, court sources said.

The petition was filed by the Movement for Quality in Government a day after Israeli Attorney-General Menachem Mazuz closed his investigation, saying he lacked evidence to charge Sharon. The ruling was seen as a boost for Sharon's Gaza withdrawal plan.
