The China Guangcai Program, which aims to reduce poverty and boost development, said on Wednesday that it will donate 20 million yuan ($3 million) to two poverty alleviation projects in Dehong prefecture, Yunnan province.

One of the projects aims to build 333 hectares of mulberries, benefiting about 1,000 poor households. The other will raise beef cattle to help 500 families shake off poverty.

Currently, more than 78,000 people in the southwestern prefecture are in poverty.
