Zijin Mining faces production curbs

The government has ordered Zijin Mining Group Co Ltd to restrict production after discharges from its copper mine polluted a river and reservoir in Fujian province, the China Securities Journal reported on Tuesday, citing unnamed sources.

It was not clear whether the production curbs will be limited to its copper mining activities or will also apply to its gold mining business, the newspaper said.

Zijin Ming had planned to expand its annual copper mining capacity to 200,000 tons from 13,000 tons.
