Chongqing named as example of progress


More than 200 political party leaders, diplomats stationed in China and foreign business representatives from some 50 countries gathered in Chongqing on Monday for a thematic briefing covering stories of the Communist Party of China.
Co-hosted by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Chongqing Municipal Committee, the briefing focused on writing the Chongqing chapter of China's modernization drive.
Chongqing aspires to be a key strategic fulcrum for the development of China's western region in the new era, as well as a comprehensive inland hub for opening up.
Yuan Jiajun, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, said the municipality will use the thematic briefing to promote communication and cooperation, present a multidimensional and comprehensive China and share the dividends of Chinese-style modernization.
Liu Jianchao, minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said in his speech that Chinese-style modernization has profoundly changed the country while also benefiting its neighbors and the world.
Faced with significant uncertainty in the current global economy, China will spare no effort to promote Chinese-style modernization to transform its vast market with new development opportunities and growth drivers, injecting stability into the world with certainty.
Yuan and Liu interacted with attendees on topics such as urban digital governance, policies for the new energy vehicle industry, the preservation of traditional culture and encouragement of inheritance and opening up to the world at a high level.
Representatives of CPC from various industries in Chongqing and people from the grassroots shared stories of changes in the economic and social life of the city. Experts from home and abroad shared their views and suggestions on its future development.
"After visiting this city and seeing the development, I'm really impressed with your developmental model," said Ernest Dube, deputy principal of the Chitepo School of Ideology, the party school for Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF).
He said his party has lot to copy and learn from China with regard to cooperation.
Many overseas participants said the thematic briefing provide a window for viewing the tremendous changes that have taken place in Chongqing and China.
