On April 16, the annual harvest of Taiping Houkui, one of China's most prized green teas, began in Houkeng village, Huangshan.
In 2024, the tea industry in Huangshan achieved notable success. Huangshan district produced a total of 1,652 metric tons of tea, which resulted in an output value of 7.1 billion yuan ($1 billion). Additionally, the brand value of Taiping Houkui experienced a significant increase, reaching 4.9 billion yuan, up 492 million yuan from 2023.
Huangshan was named a National Modern Agricultural Industrial Park for its tea industry, while Taiping Houkui won the Highest Gold Award at the 2024 World Green Tea Competition and was listed among the "Top 10 Most Representative China-EU Geographical Indication Products of 2024".
