Bangladesh praises China as time-tested partner

Bangladeshi Ambassador to China Nazmul Islam has lauded China as a "time-tested partner" of the South Asian country, expressing strong optimism that Beijing will further utilize its "easily available market" and the production components of Bangladesh for mutual benefits.
"China has been a trusted partner in our development journey," he told a banquet held to celebrate the 54th anniversary of the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh in Beijing on Wednesday.
China and Bangladesh are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties this year. "This golden jubilee is not just a celebration of our past achievements but a promise for the future—one where our two nations continue to support each other in every field, from economic growth to trade & investment, education, culture, healthcare and beyond".
The top envoy also noted that the two countries share a deep-rooted friendship, built on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared aspirations. "Over the years, our bilateral ties have expanded significantly in trade, investment, infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges".
China is Bangladesh's largest trading partner, and Bangladesh is China's second-largest trading partner in South Asia, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
He also noted that the recent China visit by Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser of the interim Government of Bangladesh, has infused immense momentum into bilateral relations.
"Our journey is a shared journey. We complement one another for our common goals of peace, progress and prosperity," he added.
