Hainan Airlines has launched more flights and improved services to meet growing demand during the 2025 Spring Festival travel rush, which concludes on Feb 22, said its staff members.

Over the 40-day travel peak, the airline plans to operate more than 33,400 flights, marking a rise of 6.9 percent from 2024.

Meanwhile, a total of 5.26 million passenger trips will be handled, including 4.91 million domestic trips and 350,000 international trips, up 3.1 percent and some 50 percent respectively.

The carrier said it has arranged more wide-body aircraft to operate flights from and to popular domestic destinations such as Harbin in Heilongjiang province, Chengdu in Sichuan province and island cities in South China's Hainan province.

It has also increased flight frequencies on international routes to tourism cities such as Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand, Osaka in Japan, Brussels in Belgium, and Singapore.

Additionally, a new route between Xi'an in Shaanxi province and Sapporo in Japan was launched in December, allowing more winter sports enthusiasts to have fun in Hokkaido.

Official data showed that Hainan Airlines was operating over 60 international and regional routes as of mid-January, with approximately 450 flights each week.

To offer passengers more convenient, affordable options over the travel rush, the airline has released a variety of promotion activities, while providing special discounts for students, seniors aged above 60 and family travelers.

From Jan 22 to Feb 12, passengers can enjoy Spring Festival-themed meals during their flight, which feature dumplings, tangyuan or glutinous rice balls, baijiu and Hainan's speciality dessert qingbuliang.

These not only promote Chinese culinary culture and traditional festival customs, but reflect Hainan Airlines' heartfelt care for passengers, its staff members said.
